Juliane Mathey

Juliane Mathey studied biology at the University of Bonn, with a concentration on zoology. She received her Doctorate of Natural Science in 1992. Between 1987 and 1990 she worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Zoology at Bonn University on issues of ecology and zoology. In 1991, as a free-lance worker at a firm of consulting engineers, she worked out faunistic-ecological studies for an environmental impact assessment (EIA). Since 1992 she is a research associate at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER) in Dresden. There she is a co-worker and head of various research projects, in particular dealing with urban ecology, urban green spaces and derelict areas on a national and European scale.
