The Plant Protection Institute of Patras (PPIP), which belongs to the National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF), was established in1924. It practices thorough research to produce important scientific knowledge which supports the local agricultural economy. Sanok is located at the San river, which performs very essential role in the podkarpackie province. It has length of 442 km and it is not only a source of water’s supply, but also the main base for water recreation in the region. For a lot of years the river was not well utilize, especially in the recreation fields, because of industrial areas, which polluted the river.
