The National Technological Park (NTP) formally inaugurated in 1984 is located approx. 5 Km from Limerick city centre at Plassey on the left bank of the river Shannon. It is composed of 650 acres of land much of which remains parkland. It was the first technology park in Ireland and is a joint venture between the University of Limerick, Shannon Development (The Regional Development Agency for the area) and the IDA Ireland (the development authority with responsibility for attracting foreign investment to Ireland).
